Following the successful launch of our Social Work Academy, Buckinghamshire Council is currently recruiting for our next cohort of hard-working, enthusiastic Newly Qualified Social Workers who are dedicated to improving the lives of Children and Young People.

Our fantastic Social Work Academy provides a bespoke development programme while you complete your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).

Please be aware you will be required to attend an assessment day on Monday 2nd November and in addition remote interviews will be held on Thursday 12th November.

About us

During the ASYE period NQSWs will spend a proportion of their time on practice development while working on a protected caseload and receiving high quality supervision, support and case management. The focus at the start of the year will be on practice development with the balance gradually shifting towards case management over the year.

About the role

Our Social Work Academy will provide structure and support to ensure your individual needs are met.  Working full time, you will have a carefully selected caseload overseen by a Practice Supervisor.  You will be supported by an experienced Practice Educator who will manage your progress on the ASYE programme.  This level of oversight and assistance will develop social workers for Buckinghamshire who can demonstrate excellence in practice.

About you

To join us in improving lives of children and families in Buckinghamshire you’ll need to be social work degree qualified and:

  • Be passionate about social work and having a genuine impact on the lives of children and young people
  • Committed to continually developing your social work practice
  • Have pre-qualified experience in children’s social work Can we change this to a social work qualification
  • Be up to date with current legislation
  • Be able to demonstrate our core values of being proud, ambitious, collaborative and trustworthy
  • Be able to drive and to have access to a car for work purposes.
