Job Description

The Quality Engineer will be part of the Quality Assurance Team and shall work within an ISO 9001:2015 environment while providing through their experience, quality assurance skills to the design, manufacturing, assembly and test processes to ensure adherence of customer specifications and Industry/Internal standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implementing improvements to the company ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System.
  • Generate, maintain and release company Procedures & Working Instructions.
  • Carry out Internal Audits in accordance with the company audit schedule.
  • Carry out External Supplier Audits when required.
  • Investigate & document customer issues, provide input to achieve firm resolutions.
  • Manage Internal & External Non-conformances using a range of Problem Solving Tools.
  • Drive Root Cause Identification, create detailed reports of findings and Implement Effective Corrective Actions.
  • Assist with Product Testing & Certification.
  • Issue Certificates of Conformance and associated supporting documentation.
  • Manage Calibration of Inspection and Test Equipment to production timescales.
  • Final inspection of completed assemblies & finished parts to specification prior to delivery.
  • Inspection of Components & Castings using a range of inspection instruments, gauges and CMM equipment.
  • Strip and Survey inspection and reporting for customer returned goods.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through activities such as Kaizens, 5Y, 8D and Structured Problem-Solving events
  • Any other specific project related work required by the company including the ability to travel on company business in the UK and overseas. 


 Skills and Experience Requirements

  •  Pro-active with desire to improve business performance.
  • Organised with a good attention to detail.
  • Qualified Auditor with experience of both Internal & Supplier Audits.
  • Good IT skills i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, SAP.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and under own supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Have a flexible approach to work.
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Target driven and has a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of problem solving methodology.
  • Sound knowledge of Inspection methodology.
  • Sound knowledge of milling, turning and grinding processes.
  • Meticulous eye for detail.
  • Experience in working in a busy environment and working to and meeting agreed targets.
  • Experience in a customer facing environment.
  • Valid UK driving license.


Desirable Criteria

  • Have experience with facilitating visits from customers, governing bodies including Lloyds, ABS as well as others.
  • Have experience of raw material certifications to BS EN10204-2.1 to 3.2.
  • Have experience of hydraulic/pneumatic pressure testing.
  • Have experience of casting defects.


Minimum Requirements

  •  Degree level education or equivalent related industry experience
  • CMM experience
  • First Article Inspection experience
