Job Description

Work with the Senior People Business Partner to deliver the people agenda for 2022 to make bp pulse a truly fantastic place to work and enable the delivery of our vision and strategy.

Take ownership for some elements of the people plan.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks 

  • Working with the Senior People Business Partner to support the delivery of the 2022 people plan fit for a start-up to scale up fast paced business.
  • Coach and develop line managers across all people processes to support both leadership and people management capability
  • Operating as an advisor and coach to line managers enabling them to lead in a way that is consistent with our values and behaviours
  • Managing challenging and complex people cases driving robust and fair process
  • Executing projects, activities and organisational change in support of business strategy
  • Delivering continuous improvements in all aspects of the “HR brilliant basics”, policy, process, procedures, and technology, ensuring the co-ordinated delivery of a high-quality people team offering and ensuring the business is optimised for success
  • Working with the People Team to drive business performance in relation to organisational development, performance management, absence management, engagement, and diversity, inclusion and equality


  • Level 5 CIPD qualified

Knowledge & Experience

  • A strong interest in dynamic, rapid growth, agile, technology-driven businesses
  • Extensive experience in the management of a caseload of both routine and complex ER cases; identifying, pre-empting, and mitigating risk
  • Previous experience of working as a true generalist in a multi-functional business
  • Experience across a variety of businesses e.g. start-ups, large, corporate or traditional businesses
  • Applying a solution focused approach, identifying and recommending solutions which will add value to bp pulse and/or enhance relationships and ways of working
  • Applies judgment and common sense - able to use insight and good judgement to enable commercially sound, efficient, and pragmatic decisions and solutions and to respond to situations as they arise
  • The ability to be open, honest, and direct while managing and influencing multiple complex stakeholders
  • A strong understanding of UK employment law and an ability to resolve transactional issues quickly
  • An ability to support senior leadership in organisation design and change management within a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, business, and financial acumen; ability to develop and use data and metrics, connecting this with business performance
  • Competent and experienced with using excel (eg vloopups, pivots)
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and interpersonal), presentation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I)

Additional Information

  • Requirement to be in the bp pulse Milton Keynes office 2/3 days per week (post CV19 lockdown restrictions)
